Carol Ladene Holmes, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, in her life long hometown of Tulsa, at the age of 84.

She was born on September 13, 1939, to Ralph and Maldene (Messick)  Hyde (both deceased). Carol is preceded in death by her two brothers Marcus and Richard Hyde, and grandson Jacob Cannon.

She attended Tulsa public schools and graduated from Webster High School in 1957.  After high school, Carol embarked on a fulfilling career as a nurse aide.  She dedicated herself to caring for others with unwavering kindness and empathy, working at various hospitals in the area.  Eventually Carol returned to college where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.  She then followed her desire for helping people by joining the Department of Human Services as a case worker. Carol's dedication to serving her community was evident throughout her many years of service before retiring in the late 2000’s. Carol's greatest passion was being a devoted mother and caring for her family and her home.

Those who knew Carol can attest to her humorous attitude and remarkable gift of giving. She had an innate ability to bring light and laughter into any room she entered and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. A testament to her generosity was the blessing box near her home that she maintained diligently, ensuring it was always full for anyone experiencing hardship.

Outside of her professional life, Carol had an array of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She cherished collecting antiques and possessed a special fondness for red glass dishes. Additionally, she had an impressive assortment of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia that showcased her passion for the iconic actress. One of Carol's favorite pastimes was visiting amusement parks; she delighted in the thrill of rides and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Furthermore, Carol possessed exceptional crocheting skills and spent countless hours crafting beautiful items for loved ones. Every year Carol crocheted special pins for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to take to all of their classmates for each holiday.

Carol will be deeply missed by her children: Steve Cannon, Kathy Wollmershauser and husband Charlie, Caron Cannon, Vickie Chatterton, and Shaun Holmes and wife Crystal. Her loving spirit will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Shelly Schultz, Tim, Jeff, and Lina Wollmershauser, Brandy, Brandon and Stevey Billings, Robert and Kara Chatterton, and Shaun II, Addison and Fuzzy Holmes. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
