Claremore, Oklahoma

Carolyn McGehee, 74, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away on August 3, 2026, in Claremore.

Carolyn was born Carolyn Jeanette Williams on December 11, 1951, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Gene and Wahella Williams. A lifelong resident of Claremore, she lived in the same home for more than 50 years and built a life centered around her faith and family.

Carolyn attended Rogers State College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She began working at Cherokee Casino in the mid-1990s, when it was still a bingo hall, and continued working there as a cashier until her retirement in 2015.

A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, Carolyn lived her faith openly and was never hesitant to share it with others. She could often be found reading her Bible or working in her garden and will be remembered for the kindness she showed to those around her.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Shad Francis and wife Tobi, Shane McGehee and partner Athena, Shem McGehee, and Shanna Clark and husband Scott; her grandchildren, Mahala Clapp, Sabrina Scott, Cody Francis and wife Britni, Colton Francis and wife Richale, Brooks Lassiter and husband Eric, Brittany Knight and husband Stephen, and others; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Cash, Wrenly, Dailey, and Mathias, with another great-grandchild on the way; and her brother, Chad Williams and wife Sondra.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Wahella Williams, and her son, Shawn McGehee.

Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and love that will continue through the generations she cherished so dearly.
