Carolyn Mary Stimson passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 79.
She was born on January 21, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to Harold and Stephanie (Kosuda) Anderson. Carolyn was raised on her family's dairy farm, located on Sackett road in Bergen, New York. She graduated from Byron-Bergen Central High School in 1964. Moving away to Warrensburg Missouri, to attend Central Missouri State University, opened a whole new chapter in her life, which she embraced and never let it known of any fear. She would tell of her first football game she attend, and the looks she got when she mistakenly cheered for the other team, "it was a good play" she said.
After earning her degree in education, Carolyn worked to save up for a summer tour of Europe. The trip was not only to see the sites but also purchase a baby blue VW bug. This car would serve as her transportation as she zipped down the Autobahn, crossed bridges over the Rhine, passed towering cathedrals, Big Ben and Parliament— a reflection of her adventurous spirit. Upon returning to the United States, she returned to Missouri to start her teaching career. While visiting a college friend in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They attended a church dance, and It was there that she met the love of her life, Michael Stimson. The couple married on July 1, 1972, in Churchville, New York. Shortly after, they relocated to the Chelsea, Oklahoma area to begin their life together.
Carolyn dedicated her career to teaching, particularly kindergarten, working in both Foyil briefly and the majority in Chelsea schools, until her retirement in 2003. She had a passion for education and touched the lives of many students throughout her years of service.
An avid traveler, Carolyn loved exploring the world with her children and sister. Their journeys took them to places such as Italy, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Puerto Rico, and Australia. She was also active in her church community, helping to deliver meals through the Meals-on-Wheels program.
Carolyn enjoyed being outdoors, especially spending time observing the night sky. She often kept her children informed of celestial events like super moons, passing comets and the best times to view the space station. In addition to stargazing, her hobbies included knitting, playing piano and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Michael Stimson, and her brothers George, Harold, and John Anderson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Greg Stimson and wife Adrienne, Stephen Stimson and Jessica, Heather Stimson, and Maureen Stimson. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kenna, Gabriel, Dominic, and Lillian Stimson, and Justin Barr. Also several, nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sisters in-law. Finally her sister Marjorie Wallace of Bergen, NY., their shenanigans lasted a lifetime, with world travel, laughter and comfort.
Carolyn will be remembered for her kind heart, adventurous soul, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
