A Celebration of Life Service for Charles Owen McDonald will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Collinsville VFW Post 3077, 15640 N. 137th E. Ave., Collinsville, OK 74021. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, May 30, from 2pm to 7pm, with family receiving visitors from 5pm – 7pm. Charles, a cherished father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by his children.
Charles Owen McDonald was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 13, 1937. He was the son of Frank Loral and Edith Juanita (Lantz) McDonald. He received his education in Tulsa and following his high school graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. His dedication continued as he joined the Air National Guard. His contribution to this Nation lasted for over 40 years of military service.
Throughout his life, Charles was known by many names, Daddy, Papa, Fat Mac, Grandpa, Friend, Brother and Son. He had a warm and social nature that encouraged everyone around him. He found joy in spending time with family and friends, often sharing laughter and engaging conversations. His passions extended to various hobbies, including fishing, woodworking and table tennis, painting, showcasing his vibrant personality and dedication to both leisure and craftsmanship. For many years, he loved playing Santa Claus for kids and pets alike. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Inola, Charles maintained a strong connection to his faith and community.
Following his retirement from military service, Charles transitioned to a fulfilling role at his daughter’s veterinary hospital, where he loved greeting and visiting with pets and their owners, further demonstrating his love for connection and service. His family fondly recalls these moments as a testament to his caring spirit.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Cari McDonald and her husband Keith Laub, his son, Keith McDonald and wife Shannon, his granddaughters, DeLaney, Bethany, Kaeleen, Jovie and Raegan. He had two bonus daughters, Brenda Moll and husband John, Kim Smith and husband Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and community engagement.
