Charley Earl Patton

Chelsea

Charley “Earl” Patton, 90 years old, entered Heaven’s Gates on April 19th, 2026.

Earl was born January 25th, 1936, ten miles north of Claremore, Oklahoma, to Charley Henry and Elizabeth Irene (Setters) Patton. As a young boy, he lived in the Winganon area and attended Waller School. He later moved with his family to St. Joseph, Missouri, where they owned and operated a sawmill, then later returning to Oklahoma and settling in the Chelsea area.

It was in Chelsea that Earl met Darlene Sallee. They married and to this union two sons were born. In 1986, he met Dorothy Bennett, and together they had a son.

Earl was a dedicated provider who worked tirelessly to support his family. Over the years, he worked in the dairy business near Chelsea and a construction company installing pipe in Tulsa. He was the proud owner of E & D Construction for many years, where he built a reputation for determination and skill; though his equipment may have been smaller, he ran his dozer with the strength and precision of a much larger machine, taking great pride in his work.

Earl was known for his strong work ethic, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering faith in the Lord. He remained actively involved throughout his life with his church, Faith Temple, supporting it in every way he could. He was loved by everyone who knew him and was especially cherished by children, many of whom called him “Pappy”.

In his younger years, Earl enjoyed bowling and competed in a league, earning many trophies. He also loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, and camping with his family—memories that will be treasured for generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Elizabeth Patton; his beloved wife, Dorothy Patton; and his siblings, Frances Ross, Betty England, Lloyd Patton, Bill Patton, and an infant brother Richard Patton.

Earl is survived by his sons, Toy Patton and wife Valerie, Jimmy Patton, David Patton and wife April, and Kenny Delp and wife Cassie; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sisters, Thelma Chaney and Dean Woods; and brother Harold Patton.

Memorial services for Charley “Earl” Patton will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Chelsea.
