Funeral service for Clarence “Jewster” Franklin Earl Hall Jr. will be 2:00 p.m., Wed., Sept. 2, 2026, at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Youngblood officiating. Visitation will be held Tue., Sept. 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at MMS Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, OK.

Clarence went to be with the Lord on Fri., Aug. 28, 2026, at his home in Claremore, OK, at the age of 87.

The son of Clarence Franklin Earl Hall Sr. and Maggie Evalee (Bradford) Hall, Clarence was born November 11, 1938, in Thomas, Oklahoma. He grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma, where he developed his passion for building and his engineering mind. His father, a tractor mechanic, would have him rebuild magnetos at night as a boy, so they'd always have a supply on hand. Clarence went on to build a long career as an engineering manager in the oil and gas industry, where his work took him around the world, including South America, Asia, Malta, and the Middle East, and he loved sharing stories of his many adventures. Over his 36 years at Baker Hughes, he contributed to submersible pump technology still used in the industry today, and was named inventor on several U.S. patents in pump and motor design.

Clarence first noticed the love of his life, Catherine Kanada, at Hollie's, a drive-in restaurant in Oklahoma City, when she backed into the speaker trying to leave, then pulled forward and hit it again. Clarence saw the whole thing, followed her, and struck up a conversation, making up a problem with her car just for an excuse to keep talking to her. It worked. That same night, they borrowed her father's car for a trip to an amusement park, and Clarence wound back the odometer afterward so her father wouldn't notice the extra miles. After their first date, Clarence knew he'd found his angel. As they continued dating, they would spend so long talking in Clarence's car in the driveway that Catherine's father would start flashing the porch light to signal it was time to say goodnight. Clarence, ever the problem solver, began simply removing the porch lightbulbs. On their wedding day, Valentine's Day, 1959, he gave Catherine's father a bag containing every lightbulb he had taken over the course of their courtship. Catherine and Clarence recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Clarence had a lifelong love of Corvettes, and in retirement he found joy restoring antique Ford tractors. He shared his love of cars and tractors with his two sons, Clay and Clint, spending countless hours with them in the shop rebuilding vintage cars together. Clarence also had a great passion for music, playing multiple instruments including the guitar, fiddle, and mandolin.

Clarence was preceded in death by his son, Clint Franklin Hall; grandson, Robert Allen Jackson; parents, Clarence Sr. and Maggie Hall; and brother, Bradford Joe Hall and sister, Georgie Ann Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Ann Hall, of the home; daughter, Cathy Hall; son, Clay Hall and wife, Dr. Tamara Hall; daughter-in-law Brenda Hall; brother, Ross Barnitz Hall; sister, Willie Mae Mitchell; grandson, Colby Hall; granddaughters, Alexis Vanhese and husband, Hunter, and Amaris Buser and husband, Guy; and great-grandchildren, Claire and Kinsley Hall, and Walker, Aurora, and Barrett Vanhese.Clarence was loved dearly and will be missed by his family and friends.
