Clifford Wayne Equels, 74, of Tulsa, passed away on December 7, 2025. Known as Wayne to most, but lovingly called “Wayniac” by his friends, Wayne had a heart as big as his smile. No one ever heard a more boisterous or infectious laugh—one that could fill a room and instantly lift spirits. A well-respected member of the Freemasons of Oklahoma and Missouri, Wayne was passionate about the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its work to help children around the world. Never one to boast, he rarely spoke of his own achievements, but he proudly and often bragged about his family.
Wayne lived life with humor, loyalty, and generosity. His greatest joy was his family. He especially loved watching football with little Novaleigh, and “PoPo” was the gentlest giant whenever he held her. From day one, she trusted him completely—and that kind of trust came naturally to him. It was simply who he was. Wayne had a way of making people feel safe, welcomed, and cared for the moment they met him. He never met a stranger and was always quick to help someone in need. He loved deeply, laughed loudly, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Sharon Semke; his two children, Wayne Equels and Debbie Morgan Equels; his five grandchildren, Dakota, Devin, Reuben, Hunter, and Micah; his great granddaughter, Novaleigh; and his niece, Kaylin, and nephew, Joshua.
Wayne’s spirit will live on in every act of kindness, every burst of laughter, and every moment of love shared among those who knew him. Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing Wayne is now resting in eternal peace. His life was a gift, his love a blessing, and his memory a treasure we will carry with us always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
