Helen Delores Green passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 88.
The daughter of William and Dorothy (Ballard) Whiteside, Dee was born on December 19, 1937, in Cherokee Central, Oklahoma. Her family later moved to the Foyil area, where she met the love of her life, Junior Green. The two were married on August 6, 1954, and made their home in the Winganon area.
Helen Delores Green, lovingly known as “Dee.” Dee was a woman whose life was defined by love, strength, and an open heart. She passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on through every life she touched.
Dee was preceded in death by her devoted husband of many years, Clarence “Junior” Green; her beloved granddaughter, Audra Honel-Mann; her son-in-law, Bruce Honel; and her cherished sisters, Wanda Couch, Shirley Mizer, and Diane Raley. Though they welcomed her home, her absence here is deeply felt by all who loved her.
She is survived by her sister, June St. John, and her brother, Bill Whiteside; her children: son Michael Green and wife Sheila, son Kelly Green and wife Teresa, and her daughter Lorrie Honel. Dee is also survived by her loving grandchildren Kristine Brinlee and husband Quatro, Rachel Paul and husband Eric, Joseph Green and wife Kelly, Joshua Green and wife Tereasa, Kelly Don Winford and wife Tina, Carlee Guinn and fiancé Colt Larimore, Emilee Lantz and husband Eric, Ashlee Horner and husband Alex, Leah Wright and husband Joshua, Kyle Honel and wife Danielle, and grandson-in-law Sam Mann; along with 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Dee was deeply loved, but more than that, she loved fiercely. Her care was never limited by bloodlines or obligation—if you needed her, she was there. Over the course of her many years, she cared for countless people with compassion, patience, and a heart that never seemed to run out of room. After retiring as a registered nurse from Claremore Hospital, her caring nature did not slow down; it simply found new ways to show itself.
Family was the center of Dee’s world. She found joy in the simple moments—shopping at thrift stores, enjoying Braum’s strawberry ice cream, sharing laughter over small treasures, hosting tea parties with her granddaughters, and spending time gardening with her grandsons. She loved family reunions at Spencer Creek Park at Oologah Lake and took great joy in hosting holidays . Easter was her favorite - each year , the family colored nearly 12 dozen eggs together. These moments, ordinary on the surface, were extraordinary because they were filled with her love.
Dee’s kindness was quiet but powerful. She gave without hesitation and loved without condition. Her strength did not come from being loud; it came from showing up, day after day, for the people she cared about.
