Dona Ruth Coates

Graveside services for Dona Ruth Coates will be Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00pm at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Dona passed away on August 10th, 2022, at the age of 92.

Dona Ruth Coates was born on September 11th, 1929 to Lawrence and Mary (Parker) Parkhurst in Welch, Oklahoma. She was raised in Vinita and attended Vinita schools.
She always loved to cook and was famous for her coconut cream pie. Anytime a relative or neighbor was in need Dona was there to help and would always cook them a meal. Over the years Dona became the caretaker for many of her family members and did it happily. Later in life Dona moved to Haskell next to her daughter and loved her time in the country, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. She said it was the best years of her life living close to her family. Dona was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all her heart, she spent her life living for God and wasn't ashamed of it. Dona will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved everyone BIG.

Dona is survived by her son, Ricky Coates and wife Celeste; daughters, Reva Grant and husband Donald, Tita Walton and husband Gary(deceased), and Becky Belt and husband Bobby; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Etta Fritz. Dona was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mae Moffet, Betty Preston, and brother Bill Parkhurst.
