Claremore

A memorial service will be held on June 17, 2023 at the 10:00a.m. at Inola First Baptist Church Gymnasium.

Donny left this world to take up residence in his heavenly home on May 26, 2023. His cousin Jim Finley was by his side.

Donny was born on April 21, 1961 in Muskogee, OK. His parents were Don and Mary Lou (Glenn) Casto.

The family moved from Muskogee to Tulsa in 1964 when he was three years old. They then moved to Oswego, KS in 1969 when he was eight years old. He attended and graduated from school in Oswego. He participated in basketball, football, track and baseball. His favorite sport to play was baseball but his favorite sport to follow was college football…Boomer Sooner.
He graduated in 1979. He worked for a summer at a coal mine in Chelsea, OK. He attended the local Junior College while working for Motor Supply in Oswego. He then moved to Inola, OK to begin working at Port 33 in 1983. He began his 31 year career at the port doing everything at the elevator – grading, elevator operations, barge loading, etc. In 1985 Donny became the Fertilizer Warehouse Manager for Johnston’s Port 33. In 1988, Donny was transferred to Muskogee and obtained his US Coast Guard Captains License and managed the Harbor Operations there.  In 1990, Donny returned to Port 33 and worked as a Pilot in Harbor Operations. In 1999, Donny became Harbor Manager and oversaw all river operations at Port 33 and remained there until his retirement in 2014.
Being on and near water gave Donny the most peace. If he wasn’t pushing a barge up the river, he was in his own boat chasing the next big bass.

Donny leaves behind two daughters, Chelce Casto of Cut Off, Louisiana and Alyssa Craig (Nick) of Pryor, OK. His grandchildren include Avery, Madison, and Wyatt Pitre of Cut Off, Louisiana and Chloe and Olivia Hershberger of Pryor, OK and a sister, Janie Allison, (Donnie) Prairie Village, KS, niece Beth Ann Allison, Waco, TX, nephew Jeff Allison (Leigh) of Prairie Village, KS, a very special cousin Jim Finley (Kim), Broken Arrow and best friend Kenny Wilmath, Mazie, OK.

He also leaves behind a legacy of love that includes many other family members and his large circle of friends.

Donny was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Zeno and Grace Casto and Vernon and Lela Glenn, and his parents Don and Mary Lou Casto.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Emerald Hospice at 120 S Yorkshire Blvd. Wagoner, OK. 74467
