Donald Mac James

April 28, 1939 — February 25, 2024

Claremore

Donald James, known affectionately as "Mac" by his beloved wife Betty, passed away on February 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with numerous health challenges. Born on April 28, 1939, Donald leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Donald's life was one of diverse experiences and unwavering commitment. Starting as a skilled carpenter, he built two of the four homes they lived in. He served in the Navy, earning an honorable discharge upon the passing of his father. Donald was a proud Navy veteran. Following this, he dedicated over 20 years to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol before retiring. However, retirement did not slow him down; he pursued his passion for farm life, raising cows and providing housing for those in need.

Donald and Betty shared a bond that transcended time, traveling internationally on missions to Thailand and enjoying various vacations together. Their commitment to each other was evident in every aspect of their lives, including their active involvement in Kings Road Baptist Church.
In addition to his professional achievements, Donald's generosity knew no bounds. Together with Betty, they supported numerous charitable causes throughout their marriage, embodying the spirit of giving.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his son Richard. He now joins them in the embrace of heaven, along with many other cherished friends and family members.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 65 years, Betty, their children Timothy and Elizabeth Stierle, daughter-in-law Tracy, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister Theresa. Despite the pain of his passing, his family finds solace in the countless memories they shared with him.

In honor of Donald's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to charities close to their hearts. And though Donald may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
