Dorrance L. Tipton

November 26, 1951 — February 3, 2021

Dory was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 26th, 1951. His parents Carl and Peggy Tipton raised him there until 1969 when he joined the U.S Army.  He served in Vietnam, Alaska, Oklahoma, and Kansas during his enlistment from March of 1969 - May of 1977. While in Vietnam, he was stationed with the 59th Land Clearing division, a group known as the Bushwackers, stationed on the front lines of the jungles. Following his time in the military he drove a semi-truck across the United States for many years. During this time he met and married Janet in 1986. He then joined the United States Post Office and worked in several job positions including helping customers and co-workers. He retired from the Post Office in 2006. He spent his early retirement working around the home and keeping up the "farm". Dory began working with the Disabled Veterans of America, where he learned to be a service officer. This allowed him to help other veterans through many different stages in life. He found great joy and peace by helping others and spending time with his friends and family.
