Dr. James "Jim" Chiles Stover, a devoted father, grandfather, and dedicated optometrist, passed away on September 27, 2025.
Jim was born on May 29, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and grew up in Claremore, OK, graduating from Claremore High School in 1974 before pursuing his higher education. He earned degrees from the University of Oklahoma and the Northeastern State University College of Optometry. Jim dedicated more than 35 years to his clinical practice, caring for patients at Eye Care for Tulsa (Tulsa, OK) and Primary Eye Care Associates (Claremore, OK). His commitment to the Claremore community extended beyond his practice, as he proudly served on the Claremore Public School Board of Education for over 20 years.
Jim cherished his time with family and friends and loved the outdoors. He had a passion for golf, water skiing, and running, and was never afraid to take on a household project. Above all, Jim was known as a devoted father and family man. His loved ones will remember him for his generous, kind, humble and caring spirit, which touched all who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert M. Stover; his mother, Urna Lea Stover-Pixley; and his sister, Cindy Kent.
He is survived by his loving children: son Rhett Stover and his wife, Staci Stover; and his daughters, Mary Deewall and her husband, Kent; Cassie Stover and her husband, Dean Bittman; and Lauren Stover. His memory will live on through his three beloved grandchildren, Seldon Stover, Chiles Stover, and Warren Deewall.
