Celebration of Life services for Arabelle Millican will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Claremore First Presbyterian Church. Arabelle passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the age of 92.

Arabelle was born on September 5, 1931 in Grant, Kansas to Thomas and Ruth (Dewell) McBride. She grew up in the Salina, Kansas area and graduated from Salina High School with the class of 1950. After high school,Arabelle married Leslie Horton, who was in the military at the time. They were stationed in Amarillo, Texas when they welcomed their daughter,Cynthia, into their lives.

Arabelle eventually started working for the Air Force in Civil Service and was stationed all over the country before retiring from the Pentagon in 1987. After retirement she moved to Tulsa,OK to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. After being divorced for 30 years, Arabelle married Jim Millican in 2002 and the couple moved to New Mexico. Arabelle enjoyed her time there with Jim and his companionship until his passing in 2006 when she moved to Claremore . Arabelle enjoyed training her Labrador Retrievers as service dogs and in obedience. She enjoyed reading, tending her flower beds and taking care of her dogs. Arabelle volunteered at Meals on Wheels and also reading for the blind. She was a member of several Presbyterian Churches and was involved with numerous women’s groups. Most who knew her knew of her faithful Corgi, JoJo, who was her devoted companion. Arabelle will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arabelle is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Shipman and husband Jim; grandchildren, Jeff Shipman and wife Stacia of Edmond, OK, Katharyn Alcorn and husband Steve of Kiefer, OK and Elizabeth Birchett and husband Craig of Tulsa, OK; great grandchildren Max Shipman, Maisie Shipman, Mollie Shipman, Brett Alcorn and Claire Alcorn.
