Graveside services for Ernest Anton Green, Jr. will be held Friday, April 24, at 11:00am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, OK.
Ernest Anton Green, Jr., 90, passed away on Monday, April 20. He was born November 6, 1935, in Syracuse, New York to Ernest and Jennie (Wessels) Green
He grew up in a house still standing in Syracuse NY. The household included Grandma Green, “Unc” uncle Arthur, his siblings, Margurite, 11 years older and brother Arthur, 13 years older, besides his parents.
He attended school in Syracuse. After school, he both served in and worked for the National Guard for 10 years.
In his youth, Ernie enjoyed skating, playing sports, and collecting Lionel trains. He was a Boy Scout throughout his childhood, reaching the level of Eagle Scout. As a father, he took an active role in his children’s lives; coaching his son Brian’s baseball team and serving on the Justus-Tiawah school board.
In retirement, he “took up” cooking and baking from recipes of his Aunt Dorothy, his wife and family and ones he found on line. He especially liked researching and baking for his wife’s PEO and church groups and Sunday Dinners for friends. .Another favorite pastime was watching and identifying wildlife, especially birds, from his sunroom; a hobby begun as a Boy Scout.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Arthur and Marguerite (Egloff) Green; wife, Elaine and son, Ernest Brian Green.
He is survived by his partner, Gwen Eschliman; his daughters, Alison Eagle and Amanda Struble; and other family and friends.
