Estella S. Canales

Mass of Christian Burial for Estella S. Canales will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 18, from 1pm-7pm. A Rosary will began at 7pm this same evening. Estella passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019. She was 74.

Born July 18, 1945 in Gregory, Texas to Manuel and Estella (Solis) Salcido, Estella attended school in Texas and graduated from Gregory Portland High School. In 1979 she moved to Claremore, and this has been home since.

Estella was a hard worker and took great care of her family. She was always happy when her children and grandchildren were near. Estella enjoyed reading the newspaper and always made sure there was potato salad served at the barbeque. She also loved returning to Texas and visiting the places where her life started, like Baytown, Padre Island, and Corpus Christi, to name a few. It would remind her of her childhood, roller skating with her aunts and uncles, and walking on the beach. But most of all, she loved her family and spent as much time as she could with them.

Those family members that survive include her children Mark Trahan, Joe Trahan and wife Carrie, Linda Meador and husband Robert, Laura Bristol and husband Robert, and Junior Canales and wife Heather; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; her brothers Manuel and Ernest Salcido; and her brother-in-law Frank Rodriguez.

Estella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Locardio Canales, daughter-in-law Kim Trahan, her sister Elia Rodriguez, and brother Edward Salcido.
