Floyd Fay Boyd

January 19, 1936 — January 2, 2023

Talala

Floyd Fay Boyd, 86, of Talala, Oklahoma, passed away on January 2, 2023. Floyd was born on January 19, 1936, the fifth and youngest child of Garland and Leona Boyd of Winganon.

Floyd was a farmer, who operated a dairy, raised beef cattle, and grew a variety of crops. Floyd was kind and generous, with an ornery streak, and a terrific sense of humor. He had the kind of simple, country wisdom that the world could use more of these days. Floyd was a keen observer, with most of his advice and life lessons originating from what he learned from animals and nature. He was the kind of man who could tell you darn near exactly what time it was just by glancing at the sky, could accurately count his herd while quickly gazing into the pasture, or casually sketch plans by hand and then build whatever he needed. Floyd loved to tell a story—even, or maybe especially, those he’d already told many times before. In his younger days, Floyd loved to go out dancing with his wife, Linda. The two even hosted a barn dance or two back in their heyday! Floyd also enjoyed basketball, golf, pool, playing cards, and classic country music. Above all, Floyd was hardworking and tough—you could see that in his hands and his eyes. And oh how we will miss those hands and eyes—and that ornery chuckle.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Boyd; daughter, Beverly Taylor; son-in-law, Brian Barnes; parents, Garland and Leona Boyd; brothers, Garland “Junior,” Vernon, and Jim Boyd; and sister, Laverne Johnston. Floyd is survived by 4 daughters, Brenda and husband, Doug Banning, of Galena, Kansas; Barbara and husband, Steve Boren, of Oologah; Shannon and husband, Clint Hall, of Wagoner; and Sareesa Boyd, of Tulsa; son-in-law, Donnie Taylor; 13 grandchildren, Charles Warner, Allisha, Vanessa, Braden, and Landon Taylor; Whitney and Chelsey Boren; Steven, Michael, and Russell Boren; Trevor Barnes, and Madalynn Rice; and Kai Moeller; 17 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces & nephews, other relatives, many friends, and beloved dog, Dillon.
