Services celebrating the life of Freddie “Corky” David Williams will be 10:00a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Corky passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 84.
Freddie David Williams was born on October 19, 1941, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to the late Thurman Scott and Bonnie Gay (Knight) Williams. Corky exemplified dedication to family and community throughout his life. Corky’s educational journey began in Claremore, where he graduated from high school with the class of 1959. His spirit for teamwork was evident as he not only participated but excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, lettering over multiple years while in high school. Following high school, Corky furthered his education at the Oklahoma Military Academy, now known as Rogers State University. His early ambitions led him to work in construction while still a student, showcasing his strong work ethic, unlimited knowledge of how to build, rebuild and repair almost anything from cars to home appliances from a young age.
In 1968, Corky embarked on a career with Sun Oil in Tulsa, Oklahoma until he retired from in 2001 after 32 years of service. Before this, he had already established himself at Dresser Engineering. Retirement did not quell his industrious, tinkering nature; instead, he continued to support and engage with his beloved daughters and grandchildren, assisting them with projects and needs, attending grandchildren sporting events, cheer events, dance recitals and lots more...so much so most evenings and weekends were filled with grandchildren events and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Corky married Buddie Sue Eagleton on October 3,1959, an event marking the beginning of a beloved partnership through which they raised three daughters. Corky was a proud father and took great joy in coaching his daughters' softball teams, as well as the American Legion team. Family remained at the core of Corky's life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Beyond his devotion to family, Corky had many interests that brought him joy. He was an ardent golf enthusiast, taking every opportunity to indulge in the game he loved. Additionally, Corky and Sue embraced adventure, traveling extensively across the United States, with Colorado being one of their cherished destinations. Corky was a member of a local bowling club for many years and regularly scored over 200 by not dropping the ball but rather laying it ever so softly on the lane with the ball finding its mark more often than not.
Family members that survive include his wife, Sue Williams, his daughters, Debra Sue Greggs and husband Chris, Dayna Lynn Cunningham and husband Shane, and Lisa Marie Wilson and husband Greg; his grandchildren, Bradly Ray Talbert, Kylie Danielle James and her husband Dylan, Chase Dalton Talbert and his wife Gracie, Michael Shane Cunningham, Taylor Brandt Cunningham, Stevie Lynn Cunningham, Jessica Nicole Warden, Katie-Lee Brooke Rodger and her husband Tony, and Freddie Gregory Wilson. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren: Emmitt Brooks Talbert, Tatum Rae James, Nathan David James, Charlie Mae Talbert, Taylor Ann Talbert, Cora Marie Rodger, and Caden Blake Rodger. Corky is sadly preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Tubby Williams, T.S. Williams, Margaret Rohr, and Joyce Pilgrim. His departure leaves a profound ache in the lives of those who knew and loved him, but his spirit of hard work and love will endure in the hearts of many.
