Gary Don Davis of Foyil, Oklahoma, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 68.
Gary was born on November 26, 1957, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to James and Mary Davis. He grew up in Claremore and developed his entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, earning Paper Carrier of the Month at just 11 years old.
After graduating from Claremore High School in 1976, Gary took welding classes and worked at Claremore Progress. On July 11, 1976, he married the love of his life, Valjandra. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage. Two years into their marriage, they welcomed their first daughter, Guyla, and a few years later their second daughter, Crystal. Soon after, they moved to Foyil to have more land and build their life together.
Gary worked for more than 40 years at Weamco while also operating his own small business for over 30 years. He was a hardworking and steady presence in the lives of those who loved him. Though he was a quiet man, he showed his love through action such as designing and building playground equipment in the backyard for his daughters, fixing whatever was broken around the house, and putting in countless hours of work to provide for his family. He was known for helping anyone who needed a hand.
In his younger years, Gary enjoyed motorcycles and restoring cars. Later in life, he developed a passion for woodworking and often spoke of his dream of spending retirement building quality furniture. He enjoyed movies, science fiction, classic rock, and spending time with his family. He loved a good joke or prank and was the most devoted Papa to his three young grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Davis, and his younger brother, Tony Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Valjandra Davis of Foyil, Oklahoma; his daughters, Guyla Blaylock and husband John of Sachse, Texas, and Crystal Cook and husband William of Edmond, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Jack and Emily Blaylock and Oliver Cook; his brother, Stanley Davis and wife Deborah of Pryor, Oklahoma; his sisters Martha Brashar of Foyil, Oklahoma, and Mary Johnson and husband Paul of Claremore, Oklahoma; and many extended family members.
