Memorial service for Gene Loyd Anthony will be 1:00p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church. Gene, a dedicated husband, father, and respected professional, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Born on June 8, 1931, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Gene was the son of Elic and Edna (Pratt) Anthony. His early years in Muskogee instilled in him a profound understanding of the value of hard work, a lesson imparted while working alongside his father in construction.
Gene’s academic journey began in his hometown, where he completed his schooling before earning a football scholarship to Bacone College. He further pursued his passion for engineering at Northeastern State University, laying the foundation for a career marked by dedication and skill. After completing his education, Gene honorably enlisted in the Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War before embarking on a distinguished career with the Army Corps of Engineers. His work took him from surveying southern Oklahoma to contributing to significant projects such as the Oologah and Kerr Dams, leaving a lasting imprint on the region’s infrastructure.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gene was a man of varied interests and deep commitments. Golf held a special place in his life, a pastime he enjoyed diligently, often playing five days a week well into his later years. He cherished outdoor pursuits like bird hunting in Kansas and deer hunting with family and friends. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Claremore, Gene enriched his community through his active participation as a teacher, choir singer, and deacon, roles that reflected his steadfast faith and generosity of spirit. Travel was another joy for Gene and his beloved wife, Minnie, as they explored many destinations together, creating treasured memories.
Gene was a family man whose heart was deeply connected to those dearest to him. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Minnie Rose Anthony; his daughter, Marsha Kehler, and her husband, Jerry; his son, Tim Anthony, and his wife, Jacque; along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elic and Edna Anthony, his son, Randy Anthony, and his brother, Jack Anthony.
Gene’s legacy is one of enduring contribution and love—a testament to a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived fully. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Gene's name, may contribute to Claremore First Baptist Church, 107 East Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017.
