Tulsa

Funeral services for Geneva “Lois” Charles-Allen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel in Claremore. Lois passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 84.

Lois was born on June 14, 1941, in Welch, Oklahoma, to Everett Lee and Zelma (McKenzie) Johnston. She grew up in Welch and graduated from Welch High School with the Class of 1959. Following graduation, she began working at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, where she met the love of her life, Curtis Charles. The couple married on April 7, 1961. Shortly after, Curtis was called to serve his country, and Lois joined him while he was stationed in Germany.

After returning to the States, Lois and Curtis made their home in Tulsa, where she focused on raising their family. In 1972, the family moved to Claremore. Around this time, Lois began her career in the accounting office at St. Francis Hospital, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement.

In retirement, Lois and Curtis enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time at the lake. She also loved crocheting, a hobby that brought her joy and comfort. Following Curtis’s passing, Lois later met Charles Allen, and the two married. Together, they shared many wonderful memories, including their daily morning trips to McDonald’s for coffee and traveling together.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Zelma Johnston; her husband, Curtis Charles; and siblings, I.N. Johnston, Everett Lee Johnston, and Judy Covey.

She is survived by her children, Kristi McGonigle and husband Chuck, Kathi Johnson and husband Jim, and Jason Charles; step-children, Cindy Austin and husband Pat, and Peggy Allen; grandchildren, Kati Jo, Buzz, Madison, Kaydeeann, Cheyann, Willie Dee, Shalane, Paige, Lane, Jake, Stacie, Levi, Jaci, and Cavender; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois will be remembered for her love of family, her warm heart, and the many special memories she created with those she cherished most.
