Georgia Lynn Scott

Claremore

Georgia Lynn Scott, 79, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and countless friends whose lives were brighter because of her.

Georgia was born on October 7, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to George and Daisy Huether. She graduated from Will Rogers High School, where her artistic talents first began to shine. A gifted artist from a young age, Georgia had an incredible eye for beauty and creativity that remained with her throughout her life. Whether she was sketching, decorating, cooking, collecting treasures, or creating a warm and welcoming home, everything she touched reflected her artistic spirit.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Georgia began her career as a commercial artist before eventually becoming one of the first women to work in operations at Sun Oil. In a profession traditionally dominated by men, she earned the respect of those around her through her strength, determination, and incredible work ethic. Though the work was demanding, she took pride in providing a wonderful life for her family and retired after a successful career.

On February 27, 1982, Georgia married the love of her life, Phillip Scott. Together they built a life centered around love, laughter, travel, and shared adventures. Whether they were exploring antique shops, discovering new restaurants, or planning their next trip together, they found joy in experiencing life side by side.

Georgia was fiercely independent, adventurous, and endlessly curious. She had an appreciation for history, nature, and beautiful things. She loved collecting seashells, Native American pottery, antiques, turquoise jewelry, comic books, rocks, and fossils—not simply as collections, but because she loved the stories and beauty behind each piece. Family vacations often became treasure hunts, whether walking the beaches of Sanibel Island in search of shells or exploring the Southwest in search of art and history.

She also had a passion for cooking and was an exceptional home chef. Her shelves were filled with cookbooks, and she delighted in trying new recipes and preparing memorable meals for those she loved. She and Phillip especially enjoyed traveling to experience great restaurants and discovering new favorite dishes together.

Music was another lifelong love. From concerts to favorite artists like Bruce Springsteen, music brought Georgia great joy and became part of many cherished memories shared with family and friends.

More than anything, Georgia treasured the people she loved. She shared an especially close bond with her sister, Karen, whose lifelong friendship was filled with adventures, laughter, and unforgettable travels. She was a devoted wife, a beloved sister, a proud aunt, and a constant source of encouragement, fun, and love for her nieces and nephews. They remember movie outings with candy secretly tucked into her purse, swimming adventures, family gatherings, and the countless ways she made ordinary moments feel special.

Georgia had a rare gift for finding beauty wherever she went—in nature, in art, in food, in travel, and most importantly, in the people she loved. Her adventurous spirit, generous heart, unmistakable laugh, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Georgia is survived by her devoted husband, Phillip Scott; her beloved sister, Karen Huether; her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own; and many extended family members and dear friends.
