Harvey was born in Claremore March 5th, 1938. He was the son of Harve Hendrix and Prudence Mae Epple. He and his brother Gene hunted game and fished to help feed the family in some very lean times.  He was popular in school and was on the football team at Claremore High school where he graduated in 1956.

Harvey was a lifeguard for a while in Claremore and loved putting on a good diving show. Later, he became a surveyor. He met Treba Nell Tanner in High school; they were Married in December of 1956.

Harvey was hired by Central Airlines as a ticket agent, which later became Frontier, and they moved them to Colorado Springs. He put in a bid to move to Topeka KS trying to be closer to family back home. There is where they had their first daughter Tresa. Frontier finally gave him the opportunity to move to Tulsa, where they lived for years and daughter Lorri was born. Later in life they moved back to good old Claremore where their family resides still.

Harvey had many hobbies and loved to learn and expand his knowledge. If he didn’t know something, he would learn about it, whether it was law, civics, engineering, building, welding or mechanics. He could build or fix anything.

His love for hunting and fishing continued and his daughters never knew what he was going to pull out of his hunting vest or bag. It might have feathers, fins or fur, but they learned how to process game as a family and REALLY enjoyed eating it.

He took the family on a yearly fishing trip to either Bull Shoals Lake or Tenkiller. They spent a lot of fun times packing up the old pickup with the whole house to go camping. Treba spent a lot of time keeping them all fed on an old propane stove and the girls loved to go fishing with dad.

Harvey retired from Frontier, and he had a zeal for helping people. He fixed neighbor’s cars, he was the neighborhood Doctor when kids had minor injuries. Everybody came to him for everything. He would know. “what to do.” He went on to care for elderly relatives as they grew unable to take care of themselves and took food to others which he was doing even the day he passed
Harvey accepted Christ as his savior Jan 2, 1997, and loved to hear Treba read the bible to him. He took every word to heart and practiced it in his life.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Gene Hendrix and sister Pat Tabor, Bill and Cleo Motto.
He leaves behind his wife, Treba, daughters: Tresa Harlan and Joel, and Lorri Harper and Mike. Grandchildren, Andrea Tuter and Rick, Ashley Smith and Chris, Chelsie Mercer and Michael, Jared Harper and wife Michelle. Great grandchildren, Jaden Smith, Aiden Davis, James Harper and Kinsli Mercer, also a myriad of nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

Harvey was a generous man and made sure his family and others had a better life. If he was able to help, he would. He will be greatly missed by all.
