Hazel passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 96.
She was born on November 24, 1928, in Maysville, Oklahoma to Sim and Beatrice (Jones) Jack. During her childhood, Hazel's family moved frequently, following agricultural work, particularly cotton harvesting. It was during this time—living in temporary camps known as "circles" in western Oklahoma—that she first met Lynn Beeson. Years later, they reconnected in Roswell, New Mexico, where they were married on April 26, 1945.
In the years that followed, Hazel worked tirelessly alongside Lynn in the cotton fields, often seen pulling a cotton sack with her child riding along. In the early 1950s, Lynn answered the call to ministry. As a devoted pastor’s wife, Hazel stood faithfully by his side, sharing her love of music by singing and playing guitar with him. Together, they served congregations in numerous communities ministering at the Assembly of God Church, in Hammon, Sayre, and Alva, Redfork Assembly in Tulsa, First Assembly of God in Independence, Kansas, and finally settling in Chelsea at Chelsea First Assembly in 1972. Even after retiring in 1987, Hazel and Lynn came out of retirement to establish and build the Assembly of God Church in Foyil, officially retiring again in 1993.
Hazel had a deep love for her family and the simple joys of life. She cherished time spent fishing on their pontoon boat at Oologah Lake, especially during family fishing tournaments. She and Lynn also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, exploring many states together. Hazel found joy in decorating, crafting, and experimenting with new recipes—despite her family's pleas to stick to the familiar. Her enthusiasm for collecting led her family to lovingly refer to her as a "borderline hoarder," a title she embraced with her famous saying: “Whoever has the most junk when they die, wins.”
Above all, Hazel will be remembered as a strong, loving woman of faith. She had the heart to comfort, the strength to stand firm in her beliefs, and the wisdom to keep peace when needed. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Simmie and Beatrice Jack; her beloved husband, Rev. Lynn Beeson; daughter, Linda Garvie; and four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her sons: Grady V. Beeson and wife Connie, and Kevin C. Beeson; grandchildren: Brian Beeson and wife Stephanie, Greg Garvie and wife Veronica, Tammy Walker and husband Steve, Dustin Beeson and wife Sara, and April Britton and husband Dakota; great-grandchildren: Codie, Austin, Ashley, Emily, Shelby, Wesley, Karsen, Logan, Colin, Caden, and Aspyn; and great-great-grandchildren: Noah and Kora.
Hazel will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her life of service and love.
