Jack Duane Benjamin, 77, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on January 26, 2026. He was born on July 28, 1948, in Wellfleet, Nebraska, to Ernest and Laura (Jordan) Benjamin.
As a child, Jack moved with his family to Northglenn, Colorado, where he completed his schooling. After high school, he settled in Greeley, Colorado, where he made his home with his late wife, Trudy (Keen) Benjamin, and their daughter, Melinda. In 1975, the family moved to Plains, Kansas, where they attended St Patrick Catholic Church and Jack established his own heating, air conditioning, and plumbing business. Jack proudly owned and operated JB Services, Inc. for nearly 40 years before his retirement.
In December 1996, Jack married Deborah (Hill) Benjamin, and together they shared many happy years in Plains surrounded by family. They retired to Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, in 2013, enjoying a slower pace of life before moving to Inola, Oklahoma in 2021 to be closer to family. Jack and Deborah especially treasured the time they spent babysitting their grandchildren, a role Jack embraced with joy and pride.
Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, and served for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Plains. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and any excuse to put his Kubota tractor to use. Jack was always the first to help a neighbor, lend out one of his many tools, or fix anything that needed repair. Though he loved staying busy, Jack was happiest when he was with his family above all else.
Jack was a hardworking man with a sharp sense of humor and a playful, mischievous spirit that brought laughter to everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Hill) Benjamin; his daughters, Melinda Zortman and her husband Stan, and Lauren Cisper and her husband Kyle; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Leonard and Kevin Benjamin.
Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy (Keen) Benjamin; his parents, Ernest and Laura (Jordan) Benjamin; his brothers, David and Donnie Benjamin; and his sister, Diane (Benjamin) Bezjak.
Jack’s legacy of laughter, service, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A private memorial service for the family at Lake Eufaula will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Saint Francis Charitable Fund in honor of Jack.
