Jane Louise Bauchmoyer passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on July 28, 2026, at Saint Francis Heart Hospital in Tulsa, at the age of 88. Jane was born October 5, 1937, a 5 lb. preemie, to George Raymond and Mary Dena Bassmann. She soon became an active healthy child.
She is a descendent of Rogers County pioneers, Judge W. H. and Dr. Caroline Bassmann, who arrived in Claremore from Nebraska in 1904. Dr. Bassmann, a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School for Women in Chicago, was honored to be inducted into the Claremore Hall of Fame in 2025. Jane’s maternal grandparents, John W, and Mattie Green, came to Rogers County from Kansas in 1906. After a few years in Claremore, Johnny became Sheriff of Rogers County and later Chief of Police of Claremore.
Jane was educated in Claremore Public Schools, a loyal supporter of the Claremore Zebras, graduating in 1957. She served as Worthy Advisor of Rainbows and was an active member of the First Christian Church as a youth and adult. After graduating she entered the University of Oklahoma majoring in secretarial science. After two years, she entered the work force when she moved to Tulsa for a few years before marriage to A. J. Bauchmoyer, an engineer who worked on the building of the new power plant in Oologah. Jane continued her career eventually becoming an executive secretary. After 20 years of marriage, they divorced and Jane moved back to Tulsa, working for several companies until retiring from Willbros Engineering.
A very kind and loving person, Jane made friends easily. She had varied interests starting with African violets, of which she owned many shelves of beautiful varieties and colors. She enjoyed shopping, {QVC too much}, decorating her home, cooking, trying new recipes, reading, movies, a loyal Sooner fan and a pet lover. On her 6th birthday she was given a Collie puppy which she named Buff. She loved loved horses. At age 13 she was surprised with a brown and white pinto named Dandy which she rode in the home pasture and around neighborhood streets.
As an adult she loved her dogs, several dachshunds through the years and more recently King Charles spaniels. Lastly, she loved birds - from feeding them in the yard to parrots—Oscar who talked a lot but only with Jane. Her second parrot, Tootsie, a yellow nape, also talked—uniquely singing Boomer Sooner, and imitating Jane’s phone conversations with words and laughter that sounded just like her.
Jane joined Harvard Avenue Christian Church in 2002 and was a member of the Disciples Sunday School class for over 20 years. Bible study deepened her faith, and treasured friendships grew there.
