Janise Ann Winterscheid

Janise Ann (Palmour) Winterscheid, passed away peacefully in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 86, on August 10, 2026, with loved ones by her side.

She was born on September 3, 1939, to Howard and Juanita (Barger) Palmour in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Janise grew up in a close-knit family as the eldest of four children. Janise, Jerry, Gene, and Charles Palmour had a lifelong bond that remained strong through the years. Janise graduated from high school in Eureka, Kansas. It was in Eureka where Janise caught the eye of Edward Winterscheid, as she was cruising main street while sitting on a stack of phonebooks to see over the steering wheel. Ed and Janise were married on June 16, 1957, beginning 56 years of an incredible marriage full of love, laughter, and dancing. Together, they raised four children and built a life rooted in hard work and love. The family raised and trained horses together. Janise proudly worked as a beautician until her retirement in 1995.

Janise was well known for her exceptional baking abilities. Her homemade rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and cherry cheesecake were family favorites. She also enjoyed playing a variety of games as she soaked up quality time with her family. Her family and friends will fondly remember the beautiful sight of Ed and Janise gliding across a dance floor together.

Her smile and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Janise was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Winterscheid; her eldest son, Terry Winterscheid; and her son-in-law, Gearld Pendergraff.

She is survived by her children:

• Jerry Winterscheid and wife Debbie of Claremore, OK

• Cindy Pendergraff of Agra, OK

• Sandra Motter and husband Rick of Pryor, OK

She is also survived by her brothers:

• Jerry Palmour and wife Carol of Tulsa, OK

• Gene Palmour and wife Karen of Tucson, AZ

• Charles Palmour and wife Pam of Claremore, OK

Janise leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews; all of whom will cherish memories of her.

A graveside service will be held August 29, 2026, at 10am at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
