Jeannie Rose Davis

May 13, 1942 — October 7, 2025

Inola, Ok

Jeannie Rose McCoy Davis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, friend and mentor, passed away peacefully in her home embraced by her family.

Jeannie was born on May 13, 1942, in Coweta, Oklahoma, to Fred McCoy and Dorothy McCoy. She spent her early childhood in Coweta before moving to Tulsa at the age of eight, where she grew up alongside her sister, Linda.

While attending Central High School, Jeannie met the love of her life, Ray Davis. Their love story continued when Jeannie briefly moved to California to live with her father Neal McCoy, half-sister Sharon Kay, and half-brother Larry Keith. Love could not be denied, and Ray sent a wire proposal—with money for the journey—asking Jeannie to return home and marry him. She did, and they were married on July 17, 1959.

Jeannie and Ray made their first home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in 1971, they moved to rural Inola, where Ray built them a home with his own hands. Together, they built a life full of love and happiness. They raised four children: Carla Davis Weber (Todd), Jeffrey Blake Davis (Tracie), Michael Ray Davis (Stephanie), and Mark Allen Davis (deceased). From these children she received the blessings of 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jeannie’s life was rooted deeply in her faith, family, and community.

In 1975, Jeannie returned to school, fulfilling her dream of becoming a teacher. She earned her master’s degree and spent many years shaping young lives in the classroom. Teaching was more than a profession to her—it was a calling. She loved her students dearly and stayed in touch with many long after they left her classroom.

After retirement, Jeannie and Ray embraced adventure, traveling extensively across North America—from the beaches of Florida to the forests of Washington state, from the coast of Maine to Baja, Mexico. They made many dear friends along the way but always returned to the peaceful life they cherished in Inola.

When Ray passed away in 2012, Jeannie continued to live a life of purpose—teaching, loving, giving, and sharing the word of God with family and friends. Her strength, grace, and unwavering faith were a light to all who knew her.

Jeannie’s legacy of kindness, love, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
