Claremore

Surrounded by his loving family, Jerry Leon Remington, 79, of Claremore, Oklahoma, enter the heavenly gates on June 19, 2023.

Jerry was born on November 17, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Leon and Margaret Remington.  He was the oldest of six children. After graduating from Rogers High School, he married the love of his life, Barbara Jo Hall.  He immediately entered the United States Army and served as intelligence in Japan during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Ford Glass Plant.  He loved doing anything with his family.  Family was his greatest love and he cherished his wife of 61 years!  They enjoyed traveling, and he loved shopping-mall, garage sales or estate sales alike.  He read avidly and traded books with his daughters so he could read even more.  He loved chatting over coffee or sitting on his porch swing with family.  He was always available for advice or a helping hand on his kids’ home projects, and he was more than proud to see the outcome.  He faithfully worked crossword puzzles to sharpen his brain.  He played dominoes with his younger brother, Steve, at minimum daily.  He cherished those moments, talks, prayers and friendship over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jo Remington, daughters, Kimbra Jackson, Jeri Townsend (Manse Angieri), and Jodie Remington (Libby) and son, Jake Remington (Vanessa).  He has two grands he raised as his own, Tasha Mathews and Justin Jackson.  Surviving grand children are Dakota (Kiley) Remington, Dravian (Katie) Remington, Terrance Mathews,  Caleb Townsend, Tobin Townsend, Drimmix Remington, Athena Remington, and Miranda, Jacob, and Lucas Sherwood.  He also has 5 great grandkids, Aidan Jackson, Jaylen Jackson, Kashton Remington, Aphelia Remington, Brylen Sherwood and Kaisen Weaver.    Myla is on her way.   He has 3 surviving siblings, Harvey, Steve and Vance Remington.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Ada Remington, parents, Leon and Margaret “Margie” Remington, sisters, MargieAnn and Susie, and grandson Joshua Townsend as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral will be Friday, June 23rd, at 2 PM at Cedar Point Church.  Address for the church is 1660 N. Lynn Riggs Blvd, Claremore, OK 74017.

A dinner for family and close friends will be held in a reception room at the church post service.
