Joan Anita Couch was born on April 13, 1945, in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was the daughter of Mahlon and Billie (White) Breidling. Joan graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1963 and worked diligently during her school years, first at a local dress shop and later for a moving and storage company.
The moving business took Joan and her family all over the place. First to Gadsden, Alabama. Joan worked for Coleman American Moving Company. This is where in 1974, Joan met Sammy C. Couch, and they formed a remarkable partnership that would last a lifetime.
The next stop for Joan, Sam, D’Ann, and Marc was Metairie, Louisiana, where she went to work for Graebel Van Lines. After a brief home in Bay St.Louis, Mississippi, Joan eventually transferred to Oklahoma around 1984 to work for Graebel in Tulsa. The family finally made their forever home in Inola, Oklahoma, where they built a life filled with love and laughter. The home her grandchildren have known as YaYa and PaPa’s house.
Joan made many lifelong friends throughout her life. She had an extraordinary ability to make friends easily and connect with people from all walks of life. Known for her caring and non-judgmental nature, those who knew her will remember her kind, warm, and funny personality, as well as her contagious laughter. Her love extended beyond her family to include her beloved pets, as she cherished her dogs and cats, showering them with affection. Joan devoted her life selflessly to her family, taking great care to nurture and support them.
Joan was a wonderful cook who loved feeding everyone well, including several of the kids' friends, throughout their high school years. She loved shopping, watching movies, and had to keep up with her daily soap operas.
Joan is survived by her husband, Sam Couch, dog Thunder, and cats Miss Kitty, Goldie, and B.W.; her children, Mickey Webb, D'Ann Johnson, and Marc Richardson, and wife Samara.
