John Lee Davis peacefully passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 90 in Baltimore, MD surrounded by family. He was born on September 25, 1934, in Fayette, Mississippi, to William and Louanna Davis as the youngest of 14 children.
John grew up on a farm, where he learned the values of hard work and kindness that would define his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and rededicated his life to the Lord in the 1990s. A man of deep faith, John loved attending church with his family and remained steadfast in his devotion throughout his life.
John had many hobbies that brought him joy, including fishing, gardening, working on vehicles, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Known for his gentle and hardworking spirit, he had a special love for people and animals alike.
Professionally, John worked as a coal miner for over 20 years with the United Mine Workers of America. After his time in the mines, he started a lawn care business in Claremore, Oklahoma, where he continued to make a positive impact in his community.
John is preceded in death by his 13 siblings, his daughter Elouise Wallace, and many beloved family members and friends.
He is survived by his children, Deloris Davis Terrell, John Davis Jr., Trinette Davis McCarty, David Davis, and April Lee Thomas and her husband Teddy. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Gerald, Romel, Ryan, Allison, Lauryn, Kristopher, Katrina, Kalil, Kiana, Amaya, Isaiah, and Trinity, along with many others who lovingly knew him as "Dad" or "Granddad."
John will be remembered for his faith, kindness, hard work, and the love he shared with his family and all who knew him.
