Funeral services for John Richard Williams will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church in Inola.
John Richard Williams, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
John was born on August 22, 1948 in Coal Hill, Arkansas, to Edgar and Augusta (Hurst) Williams. At a young age, John and his family moved to north Tulsa, where he attended school. After working several jobs in the Tulsa area, John proudly served in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Kansas City, where he reconnected with MaryAnn McFadden. The two began dating and were married on May 16, 1969.
John and MaryAnn eventually settled back in the Tulsa area, where they raised their family. In the mid-1980s, the family moved to Inola, where John made his home for the remainder of his life.
John worked most of his life as a mechanic. He was self-employed for many years and also worked for Rogers County District 2. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his ability to fix things and lend a helping hand to others.
John enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes throughout his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting pool, playing practical jokes and working on hot rod cars. He loved anything that could go fast. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, camping and fishing.
John was known for being a little ornery and for keeping those around him laughing, but beneath that mischievous personality was a man with a truly big heart. He enjoyed helping people and was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed it. He will be remembered for his humor, his generosity, his mechanical know-how and the many memories he created with his family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Augusta Williams; his wife, MaryAnn Williams; and his brothers, Floyd, Winfred and Wilburn Williams.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Bennett; his son, John Williams and wife, Windy; grandchildren, Alyssa Duley, Wyatt Williams, Tyler Sharp and Brian Sharp; and great-grandchildren, Chevi, Brileigh, Bentley, Emercyn, Olivia, Sullivan and Dawson.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
