John Franklin Royer, 91, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on the morning of Tuesday, July 22, 2025. John was born on March 2, 1934, in Nowata, Oklahoma, at the home of his parents, Ora Everett and Nora Mildred (Goldsberry) Royer. He was one of eleven children, with seven brothers and three sisters. At the young age of 12, John left home to begin working on a farm. He married and became a father at 21, welcoming his son, Johnny Franklin. Throughout his life, John worked on cattle ranches and with the county road crew. He was also a gifted auctioneer, known for his sharp wit and commanding voice.
A true cowboy to the end, John enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes, and going dancing. He was an avid viewer of RFD-TV, always keeping up with cattle prices and the rural lifestyle he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Johnny F. Royer; his longtime companion, Beatriz Barnes; and several of his siblings.
John is survived by his grandchildren, Russell and Suzie Woods, and his great-granddaughter, B. Woods, all of Claremore. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched and who became family to him.
