Funeral service for Joleyne Holman will be held at the First Church of Foyil Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
In loving memory of Joleyne Andrews Holman charished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who passed away on June 12, 2026 at the age of 95 after a courageous 5 year battle in a nursing facility.
Joleyne was born in Foyil, Ok to her beloved parents Joe and Lola Andrews on October 21, 1930. She would spend her early years in the Foyil area. Graduating from Foyil High School in 1948. She then began working in the Claremore area for he next several years. At the age of 32 Joleyne decided to return to school enrolling at Pittsburgh State University in Kansas.
Jolene's journey through life was marked by her love for literature. She graduated from Pittsburgh State University in Kansas with a bachelors degree in library science. A testament to her lifelong passion for books. Her career as a librarian with the Joplin, Missouri Public school system allowed her to touch countless lives fostering a love for reading, a knowledge in young minds until her retirement. Most of that time spent between Parkwood and Memorial schools.
Joleyne was renowned for her ability to complete the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzlen in ink a feat that spoke volumes of her sharp mind. Her love for reading was a boundless. She immersed herself in two or more books at the same time. Among those Gone With the Wind held a special place in her heart
Joleynes legacy is carried on by her loving family. Survivors include her son, Douglas Holman; daughter, Dawn "Andi" Young; grandchildren, Alix Young, and Nick Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Gavin Calhoun, Max, Josh and Cora Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lola Andrews.
Joleyne will by dearly missed, we mourn her passing and the life she led filled with love, compassion and intelligence.
May she rest in peace forever and be forever loved.
