Joyce Faye Howard

Service for Joyce Faye Howard will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Inola Funeral Home and Crematory, burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2pm-7pm, family will receive visitors from 5-7. Joyce passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. She was 81.

Born July 28, 1941 in Hulbert, Oklahoma to Glen and Birdie Ellen (Fidler) Howard, Joyce attended schools in a few different country schools. She graduated with the class of 1962 from Chelsea High. She worked at several places through the years, Eastern State Hospital, TRW Cinch, and Arrow Cleaners. It wasn't uncommon for Joyce to have more than one job at a time, she always provided well for her family.

To Joyce, the most important people in her life were her family. She often visited them and was the one who made sure they were taken care of. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and shawls, then giving them to her family. She loved animals and had a few through the years; pigs, rabbits, and chickens, to name a few. Her most favorite time was watching her boys play ball; she never missed cheering them on.

A wonderful mother, sister, and friend, Joyce will be missed by those she loved. Family members that survive include her sons Darrell Howard and wife Becky of Inola and Jesse Mitchell and wife Marti of Welch; grandchildren D.J. Howard, Jennifer Fields, Chris Howard, Cooper Mitchell, and Clay Mitchell; siblings Bill Howard, Geneva Patton, Kenneth Howard, Fern Stevens, Johnie Howard, Charlene Lee, Tommy Howard, and Barbara Ingram. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Glenel Henry, Verlin Howard, Dale Howard, Annette Willis, and Christine Boston.
