The family of Kenna Jean Parish announces her passing on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, just after celebrating her 80th birthday. She died peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones. A service to celebrate Kenna's life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at First Methodist Church.
Born on October 20, 1945, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kenna was the daughter of Kenneth Pyeatt and Be Be (Bronson) McCormick. She began her educational journey in Sallisaw, where she attended elementary through junior high school, later continuing her studies in Bristow, completing her high school education and graduating with the class of 1963. During her high school years, Kenna showcased her musical talents as a member of the school band and earned the title of band queen in her senior year. Her pursuit of knowledge continued after graduation at Northeastern State University, Central State University, and eventually Rogers State University, where she earned an associate's degree.
Kenna's professional life began in Tulsa, where she worked for three attorneys before embarking on a notable career in banking. In 1972, she took a position at 1st National Bank, which later became BOK Bank after acquisition. Kenna continued to make a significant impact at RCB Bank following its purchase of BOK. Throughout her banking career, she held various roles, serving as a secretary to a loan officer, ultimately becoming the first female vice president at RCB Bank. Kenna retired in 2011 after many years of dedicated service, during which she earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues in the banking industry.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Kenna was a woman of great compassion and service to her community. After retirement, she volunteered at the local hospital, following in her mother’s footsteps, and also shared her love for music by playing the piano and flute. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was evident as she taught Sunday School, volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and served as a mentor for underprivileged girls, embodying the spirit of generosity and kindness.
Kenna is survived by her devoted husband, Tom L. Parish; her children, Michael Parish, and Michele Brasher and her husband Mike; and her cherished grandchildren, Brylee Bobb and husband Zaph, Bryant Brasher, Luke Parish, and McKenna Parish, her great grandchildren, Maelee and Michaiah Bobb. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Kay Allen and Marty Barker and her husband Michael, along with many other extended family members and friends who were fortunate to have known her. She is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Be Be (Bronson) McCormick, and her sister, Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Hill.
Kenna Jean Parish will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, and deeply faithful lady. Her unwavering love for her family and her lifelong commitment to her community left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
