Loretta Inez Aljets was born in French Camp California on May 8th, 1950, to parents William Wallace Snow and Vernie May Johnson Snow. Loretta was the 2nd youngest out of 12 siblings. Loretta leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years, Lawrence Aljets, her 3 sons, Timothy David McKay, Kenneth Scott McKay and Patrick Shawn McKay. Along with her husband and sons she had several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In Loretta’s own words “Loved my big family, had 9 sisters and 3 brothers. Had the same Mom and Dad all my life. I had really good parents. I always wanted to be the best grandma in the world because I never had any grandparents growing up. I believe in Christ and want to know the scriptures better than anything.”
You could say she was lovingly relentless, enthusiastically opinionated and creative-firestarter. There was never a dull moment with Loretta in the room. And she was very much loved for being exactly who she was.
‘Inez was a devoted women of faith who loved God and her family deeply. She lived with grace, kindness, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her. Her faith guided her through every season of life, and family was her greatest blessing. She leaves behind a legacy of love, prayer, and unwavering faith. Though our hearts grieve, we find comfort knowing she is at peace with her Savior. “In my Father’s house are many rooms…I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:12’ (Last paragraph written by her granddaughter Kelsi Nicole McKay) “One of the things I will miss the most is your beautiful creativity. You gave me a childhood filled with magic, from Fancy Nancy tea parties and thrifting trips adventures together and endless dress-up days. My favorite memory of us is our “surgeries” on my stuffed animals. In these moments you made the world feel safe and full of wonder. (Granddaughter, Kelsi Nicole McKay)
“Auntie Retta has always been one of my favorite people. It was like having an Aunt Lucy Ricardo. We used to play dress up, go to Music at the Park, attend plays, and yard sales. She would read stories to us in all the character voices till we fell asleep. She would always say I was the little girl she never had. I know she is in heaven smiling and laughing with her shrill squeal. I am blessed to have been part of her life.” (Niece, Erin Rae Hanson)
“Our Grandma Inez was a great woman. She taught me how to make cakes from scratch and use a sewing machine. I will miss being able to call her and ask her for recipes. She took myself and my sister in and guided us to grow into the women we are today. Being her first born granddaughter, I was named after her and am honored to carry on the name, Inez.” (Granddaughter Heather Inez McKay and MaryAnn McKay)
“My Grandma was very nice and kind. I reunited with my grandma in 2020 and am grateful for the amazing time we had together. I know she’s in a better place and I know she’s watching over us.” (Grandson Harley McKay)
“I was only 16 when she came into my life, and she was like a second mom to me. Even though we lived so far apart, we always stayed in contact, and she was always interested in everything about her grandkids. I’m so thankful for the visit in 2020 when she and Larry came for a week and were able to meet and spend time with her great grandkids. They loved her and thought she was awesome- just as she truly was. I’m grateful for the time we spent together. I know she’s in heaven with her grandson, Robby. She will be missed dearly.” (Daughter in-law, Lisa Draughton”
