Loretta Faye Mapes, of Claremore, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She passed suddenly in the comfort of her own home, at the age of 78.
She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on December 12, 1946. Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, and Gannie, who dedicated her life to the family and friends that she loved. Loretta welcomed her first daughter, Sonja, into the world in 1964, and her second daughter, Brigette, came along in 1968. She had many hobbies that included gardening, playing bridge with her friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and searching for seashells on the beach with the love of her life.
On March 1, 1974, Loretta married her dedicated husband of 50 years, Larry, at the Carpentaria Baptist Church in California. Larry and Lorretta were then re-married again in 1985 at the First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. In October of 2009, the two renewed their vows on a Windjammer Cruise in the Polynesia Islands.
After many devoted years, Loretta retired in 2001 from Primevest, as an Investment Banker. Following retirement, Loretta spent her years traveling the world with her husband, children, and grandchildren. You could often find Loretta at a sporting event for her grandchildren or volunteering as much time as possible to her church. Loretta has been described as being loving, sassy, the life of the party, and the glue that holds her family together.
Loretta is survived by her children, Sonja Litterell and husband, Milburn, and Brigette Carr-Burgess, grandchildren Jake and wife Sarah, Emily and husband Zachery, Paige and husband Seth, Hannah and fiancé Towers, Morgan, and great-grandchildren Waylon, Adley, Joanna, and Carson.
Loretta was proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Mapes, father, Jacob Miller, mother, Mallie Miller, and brother, Ronnie Miller.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Claremore First Methodist Church. Graveside ceremony will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to "Loretta Mapes- Next Step 2030” project committee at Claremore First Methodist Church. Loretta was a passionate member of this committee that plans to build a new food pantry for Amazing Grace Ministries.
