Funeral service for Loretta Turner will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma.
Loretta Waunice Turner went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2016 at the age of 85.
The daughter of Elmer and Alice Pickens Priest was born May 8, 1931 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. There she was raised and attended Elmore City schools. While in high school she met Alvin Autry Turner. They would marry on April 1,1948 in Gainesville , TX. The first few years of their marriage was spent traveling mostly through Texas and Louisiana evangelizing. Then around 1954 they settled in Marlow. They then became instrumental in building the United Pentecostal Church of Marlow. She then spent the majority of the next several years raising her family and helping her husband in the church. However after her kids became older she reentered the workforce. She began working in sales, first at Montgomery Wards, then in real estate. In 1970 she opened Loretta Turner Real Estate in Duncan. For many years she excelled with her business before retiring. Then around 2009, wanting to be closer to their son and daughter, Loretta and Alvin moved to Tulsa.
Loretta had many passions in her life. Her church was always toward the top. Through out her life she taught Sunday School, and often was the church pianist. Other hobbies included sewing, cooking and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Alice Priest; husband, Alvin Turner; son, Ronald Turner; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherrie Nance and husband Glendon of Chelsea; sister, Lawana Jones of Ragley LA; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
