Lottie Mae (Dodd) Meyering

January 10, 1929 — October 14, 2025

Madison, Alabama

Lottie Mae (Dodd) Meyering, of Madison, Alabama, formerly of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away in Huntsville, Alabama, at the age of 96.

Lottie was born in Spavinaw, Oklahoma, on January 10, 1929, the daughter of George and Ninnie (Ash) Dodd. After a short courtship, Lottie married Robert (Bob) Meyering in Pryor, Oklahoma, on January 22, 1947. Lottie and Bob moved to Tulsa where they had two children, Edward (Ed) & Claudia. In 1960 they moved to Claremore where they raised their children. During those years, Lottie was active in school activities. Later, Lottie and Bob greatly enjoyed both St. Andrews Methodist Church, where they were two of the first members and where Lottie attended until the church closed in 2020, and Eastern Star of Claremore, where they both held many positions through the years.

Traveling was also something Lottie and Bob loved, beginning with a camper shell on a pickup truck and progressing to a large RV. They drove all over the United States many times and enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Jamaica. They also spent many years selling Watkins products, which offered them more chances to travel around the US, meeting people and seeing new places. After Bob’s death in 2010, Lottie continued to live in Claremore, where she continued to be active in her church and Eastern Star, and enjoyed her many wonderful friends. Lottie had a special connection to her Emmaus ladies, who, in 1988, started meeting every week for fellowship and breakfast, and to her neighbor of nearly 60 years, Maxine Bickell.

Lottie’s life in Oklahoma came to an end in 2019. As her mental health declined, she moved to Alabama to live with her daughter but also ended up living near her three great-grandchildren. Being able to spend time with them, and to see them growing up, helped ease the sadness of having to move from her beloved Oklahoma home, family and friends.

Lottie is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Meyering, and her son, Edward Meyering, her parents, and her brothers, Ralph and Cullus, and sisters, Zona and Kitty Dodd, Frances Stilley, Margarete House and Mary McGath.

Lottie is survived by her daughter, Claudia Meyering of Madison, Alabama; granddaughter, Cascia (Todd) Weldy, and great-grandchildren Jack, Adam and Caroline Weldy, of Athens, Alabama; grandson, Ryan Lynch of Buffalo, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Cathy Meyering, and grandson, Casey Meyering, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Lottie loved all her nieces and nephews but Carla Parker of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Sally Youngblood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arliss McGath and Bill McGath of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, held a special place in Lottie’s heart.

A gravesite burial and celebration of Lottie’s life will be held at the Spavinaw-Salina Cemetery, date not yet determined.
