Mary Anne Blunt, 87, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Mary Anne was born on November 20th 1938 to George and Pauline Sandbothe in Martinsburg, Missouri, where she spent her childhood attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Community R-6 schools.

After graduation, Mary Anne moved to Kansas City, where she began working for Hallmark—a job she truly loved and one that became a meaningful part of her life.

It was in Kansas City that Mary Anne met the love of her life, Bobby G. Blunt. They married on January 9, 1960, beginning a lifetime of love, companionship, family, and shared memories. Together, they built a home filled with love and raised five children, moving wherever life led them. They first settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where they welcomed their first two children, before moving to Clinton, Missouri, where their remaining three children were born. In 1985, Mary Anne and Bobby made their home in Claremore, Oklahoma, where she continued to create a life surrounded by family, friendship, and the simple joys that meant so much to her.

Mary Anne had a special love for gardening, flowers, and crafting. She took great pride in her flowers and found her greatest happiness outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whether tending to her garden or simply enjoying the sunshine, she had a wonderful way of finding joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Her hands were rarely idle, and her heart was always open.

Mary Anne was also actively involved in the Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls, generously giving her time and support to these organizations. Wherever life took her and her family, she remained dedicated to her community, becoming an active member of the Ladies’ Altar Sodality in every town they called home. Through her involvement and willingness to serve others, Mary Anne demonstrated her caring spirit, strong faith, and commitment to the people around her.

A true social butterfly, Mary Anne had a gift for making friends wherever she went. She never met a stranger and had a natural way of making others feel welcome and loved. Her sweet, silly, and kindhearted nature brought warmth and laughter into every room she entered. She had a cheerful spirit, a loving heart, and a personality that made her unforgettable. Those who knew Mary Anne will remember not only her kindness, but also the happiness she brought into their lives and the special way she made even ordinary moments feel meaningful.

Mary Anne was also a devoted fan of her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Oklahoma City Thunder. She proudly cheered on her teams and delighted in calling her children to share her excitement, often greeting them with her familiar and enthusiastic words, “Go Chiefs!” or “Go Thunder!”

Mary Anne found ways to remind her children and grandchildren that they were each special, that she was thinking of them, and that they were always close to her heart.

She remained very close to her brother, Paul, and spoke with him daily.

One of Mary Anne’s most faithful companions was her beloved dog, Jango. The two were inseparable. Jango was her watchful protector and always by her side.

Mary Anne also held a special place in her heart for the Bethel family, whom she lovingly considered her second family.

Mary Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby G. Blunt; her parents, George Sandbothe and Pauline Farnen; and her brothers, Ronald Sandbothe and Carl Sandbothe.

Those left to cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy of love include her five children: Sherri Evans and her husband, Tim, of Bentonville, Arkansas; Ric Blunt and his wife, Debra, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Christopher Blunt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Susan Blunt Wilson of West Linn, Oregon; and Craig Blunt and his wife, Michelle, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Sandbothe of Sedalia, Missouri; her beloved grandchildren, Maleigha Evans, Willow Wilson, and Everly Blunt; along with extended family members and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Though Mary Anne’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave so freely will never fade. It will live on in the flowers she so lovingly tended, the friendships she nurtured, the laughter she shared, the memories her family will forever treasure, and the countless little moments that made her who she was.

She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her joyful spirit, her sweet and silly ways, and the love she gave so generously. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those who loved her.

Rest peacefully, Mary Anne / Mom/ Nana. Your love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten.
