Melody Lynn Raper, 77, passed away on December 10, 2025. She was born on February 23, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Bill and Wanda Taylor. Melody grew up in Tulsa and attended McLain High School and graduated in the class of 1966. As a young girl, she especially loved spending time with her Granny Knight on the family farm, a place that always held a special place in her heart.
In her early years, Melody devoted herself to raising her children at home. When her youngest child started first grade, in 1981, she enrolled in beauty college to pursue a career as a hair stylist, a profession she enjoyed and worked in for many years. Melody had a love for collecting antiques, gardening, and was very involved in her church, particularly in Children's Sunday School. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, painting ceramics, Cross-stitching, often creating thoughtful handmade items for those she loved.
Melody was preceded in death by her husband Sid Raper; parents, Bill and Wanda Taylor, and her brother-in-law, James Runyon.
She is survived by her sister, Holly Runyon; her children, Shelley Brumley and husband Nelson, Bradley Yingst and wife Amy, Melisa Green and husband Heath, Pam Phillips, and Paula Roland and husband Brian; and her grandchildren, Tyler Yingst, Brayden Yingst, Ryan Yingst, Jarrett Phillips, Jacey Cory, Brock Green, Sidney Roland, Breanne Green, and Landry Roland.
Melody will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
