Michael Patrick Brown returned to Heaven on August 30, 2025.

Michael was born on October 10, 1949, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Louis and Ruth Ann Brown II. Growing up, Mike and his family moved around due to his father’s career as a Chemical Engineer. Throughout his years, he lived in Coffeyville, Kansas, Toronto, Canada, Salt Lake City, Utah, Corpus Christi, Texas, Bernice, Louisiana, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Claremore, Oklahoma. In high school, Mike excelled in his classes, played football, and was the Louisiana State Math Champion. After graduating from Bernice HS, Mike attended Louisiana Tech University and majored in Computer Science. He was one of the first students to graduate early, earning his Bachelor’s degree in just three short years. Mike spent many years working as a computer programmer and celebrating his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He often remarked that Doug and Amy were both born in years the Cowboys won the Super Bowl.

In 1996, Mike married the love of his life, Arlene Payne. The couple was married for 29 years, and they had five children between them. Together, they designed, built, and operated a billing and accounting software company, Sequoyah Software & Consulting, Inc. Mike loved working on computers and cherished owning a business with Arlene. In his free time, Mike enjoyed pursuing his passion for photography. He spent many days shooting sporting events, vacations, and even a wedding. Although Mike was extremely dedicated to his career, his favorite pastime was being with his children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as Namp, his desire to oblige their every request led to many pets, vacations, and even a swimming pool.

Mike and Arlene spent their retirement years traveling the world; some of their stops include Rome, Hawaii, a Mississippi riverboat ride, and the Field of Dreams. Mike also traveled with his son, Doug, to London and Africa. One of his favorite vacations took the entire family to Orange Beach, Alabama. In his later years, Mike was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was cared for in his home by his wife, her son, Tyler, and his wife, Dallas. Mike died peacefully in his favorite chair, where he was most at home with family by his side.

Mike is preceded in death by his sister Patricia and parents, Louis and Ruth Ann Brown II.

Mike is survived by his wife Arlene, son Doug and his fiancee Jenn, daughter Amy and her husband Travis, daughter Lindsay and her husband Brandon, son Tyler and his wife Dallas, and daughter Leslie and her husband Derick; grandchildren Kylie and her husband Paul, Jordan, Kendall, Lacie, Luke, Baylie, Jackson, Ty, Cru, Aubrie, Tess, and Brex; great-grandchildren Bentlie and Baker; siblings Louis Brown III, Ruth Lavy, and Jennifer Hogan.
