Monte Lee Lawrence

Graveside services for Monte Lawrence will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1:00pm at Fairview Cemetery in Talala, OK. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 1:00-7:00pm at the Chelsea Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00pm.

Monte passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, he was 46.

Monte Lee Lawrence was born on October 8, 1978, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Larry and Janet (Peak) Lawrence. At the age of 4, his family moved to Oologah, Oklahoma, where he spent much of his childhood. He later attended Chelsea Schools, graduating with the Class of 1997. During his childhood, Monte spent a lot of his time growing up working on cattle ranches in the area.

After high school, Monte joined his father working at L&R Backhoe, later becoming a truck driver for Borden Meadowgold. Eventually, he launched his own business, A&M Septic, where he took great pride in his work.

Affectionately known by his older sisters as “their baby,” Monte was the center of his sisters’ world growing up. They loved dressing him up in their doll clothes, painting his nails, driving him around in the baskets on the front of their bicycles and even letting him sleep in their room in a laundry basket. His sisters taught him how to walk by holding Oreo Cookies out in front of him.

Monte had a passion for fast cars, hotrods, and motorcycles. He loved restoring old cars and trucks, and found peace in sitting on the beach, cooking, and collecting and shooting guns.

He is survived by his father, Larry Lawrence and wife Bessie, his mother, Janet Lawrence; daughter, Morgan Lawrence; grandchildren, Coda and Maekinzlee; sisters, Ann Davis and Laura Lynn Perry and husband Kevin; uncle, Robert Dean Lawrence; cousins, Kevin and Roger Lawrence along with many friends and relatives including the Jerry and Marcia Moore family as special lifelong family friends.
