Nancy Lee Lowther

April 25, 1940 — November 23, 2023

Memorial services for Nancy Lowther will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00a.m. at the Inola Christian Church with graveside service immediately following at the Eden Mennonite Church cemetery under the direction of Inola Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Page will officiate services.

Nancy was born into this world on April 25, 1940, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Ralph and Bertha (Sherrill) Froese. She and her younger sister, Louise, grew up attending school in Inola, Oklahoma. Nancy fell in love with and married Richard “Buddy” Lowther on June 3, 1960, at the Eden Mennonite Church where they were both members. When Richard entered the Army, he was stationed in Germany and Nancy went with him. She returned home to the States early to help care for her ailing mother. One of Nancy’s finest characteristics was that of giving and caring for others. Nancy’s great joys were spending time with family, voracious reading, creating art, travel, and shopping. One of her favorite places to eat was Cracker Barrel as they offered two of her favorite things, home fried chicken and shopping, all in one convenient location. Nancy and Richard raised their two daughters, Angela and Patricia in Inola. As a family they all spent many weekends camping and boating with family and friends or participating in activities at the church. Nancy was part of a large family and she often recounted fond memories of time spent with beloved kids, grandkids, cousins, and kin. Some of her favorite stories were about time with her cousins Joann (Funk) and Tony Unruh, Glenda (Sherrill) and Ed Barnes, Mike Sherrill and Kathy Heffron, and her Aunt Viola and Uncle Raymond Sherrill.

People were quite naturally drawn to Nancy who never met a stranger. She had an uncanny ability to comfortably strike up conversation with a phenomenal memory for details and command of the English language. She loved to give gifts and she had a most infectious sense of humor steeped in sarcasm as she truly lived to laugh. She positively influenced the lives of all that she met.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bertha and step-mother, Dortha Froese; her husband, Richard Lowther; and her sister, Louise Clark.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Angela Gulley and husband Robert of Bartlesville; her daughter Pat Shrader and husband Kirk of Broken Arrow; her granddaughter Meagan Davis and husband James of Broken Arrow; her granddaughter Jessica Shrader and fiancé Adam Villamil Jaimes of Broken Arrow; her granddaughter Sophia Martz and husband Jake of Noble; her grandson Joshua Shrader of Broken Arrow; and her granddaughter Emilee Shrader of Broken Arrow.

Nancy left this world on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023 to be reunited with Richard in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
