Maxine Early

July 11, 1927 — November 28, 2023

Claremore

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2 at the Foyil Methodist Church, Foyil Oklahoma.

The daughter of O.M. and Elsie Patrick was born July 11, 1927 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. As she said, I was born “way out in the country”.  At the age of 10 the family moved to an area north of Pawhuska. She graduated from Nelagoney High School in 1946. She was a guard on the girls high school basketball team. After she married Robert Early they lived in numerous towns throughout Oklahoma until 1975 when they moved to Foyil.

Maxine was an active member of the Foyil Methodist Church for over 45 years. She spent many early mornings preparing homemade pies and fried okra for the Community lunch that was held each week. She loved helping with Vacation Bible School each summer.

Maxine loved to tend to her flower beds, especially her rose bushes and irises. She was an avid bird watcher and could tell you when the hummingbirds would arrive each spring. She was a member of the Oowala Chapter of the Oklahoma Home Community Education. She received numerous blue ribbons at the Rogers County Fair for her pies, green beans, embroidery and quilts. Maxine was an avid puzzle person as she spent many hours putting together jigsaw puzzles and working on crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.M. and Elsie Patrick; sister Lola Farmer, brothers Doy, Loy and John Patrick, husband Robert H. Early and son, James Early.

Maxine was survived by her daughter Tricia Lang of Florida; son Robert R. Early and wife Lisa of Foyil; grandsons: Jon Lang, Robert W. Early and wife Rebecca of Fort Worth, TX; and great-granddaughter, Mollie Anne. Brothers: Jay Patrick and wife Kay, Ken Patrick and wife Debbie, Carl and wife Sharon. Sisters: Norma Fay Powell and husband Joe; Linda Thomas and husband Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Claremore First Methodist Church Food Pantry, your favorite local community charity or the American Heart Association.
