Peggy Ann Andre, 72, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Claremore. She was born on January 30, 1953, to Gene and Glendene Dennis and was raised in Sequoyah, Oklahoma, where she developed her lifelong love of family, community, and the outdoors.
Peggy graduated from Sequoyah High School in 1971, where she was a standout athlete. As a member of the school’s volleyball team, she helped lead them to back-to-back state championships in 1970 and 1971. Decades later, her athletic contributions were honored with her induction into the Sequoyah High School Hall of Fame, a recognition she deeply cherished.
After high school, Peggy pursued her calling in nursing, a profession that became her life’s work for nearly 50 years. She began as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later earned her Registered Nurse license from Rogers State University. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. Peggy dedicated 35 years of her career to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she compassionately served oncology patients until her retirement in 2009. Retirement did not end her service to others, she continued caring for patients at North County Nursing Home, always offering comfort and kindness to those in need.
Peggy’s personal life was just as rich as her professional one. In her younger years, she loved working on the family farm and spending time outdoors. Fishing became one of her greatest passions, and she shared that joy with her two boys, taking them camping, fishing, and playing sports in the yard. Peggy’s love of life was evident in her laughter, her smile, and her ability to bring joy to everyone she met. She was known for her generosity and her gift for baking, often filling her home with the warmth of her famous chicken noodle soup, fresh cookies, and treats made with love.
She also enjoyed cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners, caring for her beloved dogs, and spending time with her family. Peggy’s strength, humor, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her son, Roy Jenkins, his companion Linda Sanford, and their family of Choctaw; her sister, Marilyn King, and brother, Darrell Dennis, both of Claremore; her grandchildren, Kenna Brown, her husband Dayton, as well as Lynzie, Cameron, and Calvin Jenkins; her great-grandchild, Kreed Brown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Glendene Dennis; her son, Donnie Seman; and her nephew, Shawn King.
Peggy will be remembered as a strong, devoted woman who raised her children with love, touched countless lives through her nursing career, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
