A celebration of life service for Patrick Abitbol will be 11:00a.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Verdigris Assembly of God Church. Patrick passed away on January 4, 2026. He was 69.
Born on November 10, 1956, in Casablanca, Morocco, to Marcel and Tonie (Marrache) Abitbol, Patrick's journey began in his early childhood when he moved with his family to Bradford, Pennsylvania, and this is where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1974. He pursued higher education at Buffalo State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He furthered his studies at Tulsa University, earning a law degree which enabled him to embark on a distinguished career.
At the young age of 22, Patrick began his professional journey as assistant district attorney for Rogers County, Mayes County, and Craig County, a career that span 29 years. He also practice law privately as well as serving as the Municipal judge for the city of Verdigris and Catoosa. Patrick retired from his legal career in September, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to justice.
Those who knew Patrick recognized him as the voice of many who needed someone on their side. Driven and passionate, he saw injustices and worked tirelessly to effect change. He was a man who possessed a broad knowledge of history and was very well-read, often engaging others with delightful discussions about various topics.
Patrick had a profound love for animals, particularly dogs, which led him to contribute his time and efforts to the Wild Heart Ranch, an animal rescue organization, where he served as a founding board member. His passion for the German Shepherd breed started with his first dog, Sheba, and over the years he welcomed several others into his life.
Patrick was also known for his vibrant personality, enjoying hobbies such as shopping for and selling antiques, coins, and visiting flea markets. He also had a passion for watches, he collected many over the years. An ardent fan of OU Football, he relished the experience of watching games, whether in Norman or with friends and family in front of the television. He had a zest for life that included going on cruises and indulging in visits to Lambert’s Restaurant, adding joy to every moment spent with loved ones. Patrick will be remembered for his indomitable spirit, dedication to justice, and love for his family and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life.
Surviving Patrick are his mother, Tonie Abitbol; children Lydia Digges and her husband Tommy, Briana Abitbol, Danielle Jacobs and her husband Rex, and Wesley Jones and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren Myrcedes Dill, Eli Dill, Omar Sifran, Andre Sifran, Bre-Ella Sifran, Alisha Weathers and her husband Anthony, Andrew Jacobs and his wife Rachel, Wyatt Jacobs, Wade Jacobs, Dalton Jacobs, Destiny Jacobs, Zach Jacobs, Bryzell Jones, and Brylenn (Mouse) Jones; sisters Elizabeth Alva and her husband Richard, and Claudia Freeman and her husband Michael; his partner in recent years, Dianne Hale, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lavon Abitbol, his father, Marcel Abitbol and his son Luke Abitbol.
