Rex Donald Dexter

Rex was born on March 17, 1942, on his family’s farm in Williamston, Michigan, to Donald and Betty Dexter. He was raised in the Lutheran Church, where he served as an altar boy, and the values instilled in him during those early years remained an important part of the man he became.

In the 1960s, Rex proudly served his country in the United States Army. His commitment to his fellow veterans continued long after his own military service ended. For many years, Rex generously volunteered his time at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, giving back to the men and women who had also served their country.

Rex was a hardworking man who found a career that perfectly suited his independent spirit and love of the open road. As a professional CDL truck driver, he traveled countless miles and built an accomplished career with Arrow Trucking. Throughout his years on the road, Rex received numerous awards recognizing his safety record and specialized driving skills. Of all his professional accomplishments, one of his proudest was earning membership in the 5 Million Mile Club—an extraordinary achievement that reflected his dedication, skill, and many years behind the wheel.

When Rex wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes, but he especially loved golfing with his brothers. Those rounds of golf were about far more than the score—they were about time together, laughter, stories, and the special bond between brothers.

Above all else, Rex loved his family. Whether he was spending time with those he loved, golfing with his brothers, enjoying the outdoors, or watching the miles roll by from behind the wheel of his truck, Rex lived life in a way that was uniquely his own.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Dexter, and his brothers, Burt Dexter, Len Dexter, and Paul Dexter.

He is survived by his sisters, Donna Durbin of Williamston, Michigan, and Betty Pardee and her husband, Bobby, of Mason, Michigan, along with countless nieces and nephews who were part of the family he loved so dearly.

His family will remember the stories he told, the experiences he shared, and the many memories made throughout his 84 years. His life took him millions of miles down the open road, but family was always home.
