Richard's first watch ended on May 7, 2025, at the age of 79.

Richard Saltmarsh was born on November 25, 1945, in Marne, Iowa, to Orvetta Christine (Andersen) Saltmarsh. His formative years were spent in rural Iowa, developing lifelong skills from typical farming life. Upon graduating high school, Richard enlisted in the Navy where he spent several years as a Machinist's Mate onboard various submarines. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1973, and soon after resettled in Oklahoma where he attended University. On July 24, 1976, he married the love of his life, Pamela, at Harvard Avenue Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. From that point on, nearly every moment was devoted to providing for his family and supporting them in every way possible.

A member of Claremore First Presbyterian and Christ Presbyterian Church, Richard was known for his love of fixing things, especially for family and friends. His talents included carpentry, mechanical and electrical work, and cooking. More than anything, Richard found joy in helping his family whenever they needed him, which was only all the time.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother; brothers, Russ and Dale Saltmarsh; brothers-in-law, Mark Polumbus, Mike Pearcy, and Rick Pickard; sister-in-law, Debbie Pearcy; and his mother- and father-in-law, Coke and Etta Pearcy.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Saltmarsh; daughter, Shelly Saltmarsh; sons, Nick and Tim Saltmarsh; daughter-in-law Cherise Saltmarsh; grandchildren, Kragen and Xander Saltmarsh. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Pickard; sisters-in-law, Linda Saltmarsh, Marilyn Polumbus, Jeanie Saltmarsh, and Michelle Pearcy; brother-in-law Gary Pearcy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Those of us that were lucky enough to have Richard in our lives are all the better for it. Please join us in wishing Richard safe travels as he begins the next part of his life.
